Art

Older pupils paintingArt offers a unique vehicle for communication and self expression, encouraging the ability to observe, select and interpret with imagination, feeling and understanding.

Throughout Key Stage 3 and GCSE, the department intends to develop within all pupils self confidence and a positive approach to the subject through direct participation in the initial research and presentation of a theme, pupils will be encouraged to develop an art based vocabulary and a grater awareness of historical contexts.

The department runs a skills based course that explores many techniques that enable an exploration of different media and processes.

The skills and qualifications that are gained in the department can form a sound basis for study at a higher level, leading to a wide variety of career opportunities.
