Drama

dramaThe skills that pupils learn in Drama are essential, not only in a classroom environment, but also in life. The advantages of learning self-awareness, confidence and how to presnt one's self in social and professional situations should continue to benefit pupils for many years after they have left school. It should be said that the study of Drama is stimulating, rewarding and great, great fun!

Of course, Drama is about performance, but that doesn't mean that all we ever do is act. It also means that we watch the performances of others, both peers and professionals. This involves evaluating performance in lessons, suggesting changes and analysing skills such as posture, movement or gesture. It also includes modifying and finding ways to develop pieces and enhance performance.

An essential part of Drama at Scarisbrick Hall School involves live theatre trips; it is important to see professionals at work in order to evaluate our own techniques and to learn new skills.

While Drama is, indeed, a practical subject, the course is varied and includes the study of set texts. There is also written coursework which is based on the development of practical tasks.

The allocation of marks for G.C.S.E is as follows:-
