The skills that pupils learn
help to develop confidence and essential self-awareness in the way
that they present themselves to others in both professional and
personal stimulating, rewarding and great, great fun!
Of course, Drama is about performance, but that doesn't mean
that all we ever do is act. It also means that we watch the
performances of others, both peers and professionals. This involves
evaluating performance in lessons, suggesting changes and analyzing
skills such as posture, movement or gesture. It also includes
modifying and finding ways to develop pieces and enhance
performance.
An essential part of Drama at Kingswood College involves live theatre trips; it is important to see professionals at work in order to evaluate our own techniques and to learn new skills.
While Drama is, indeed, a practical subject, the course is varied and includes the study of set texts. There is also written coursework which is based on the development of practical tasks.
