In the Senior School all
pupils study French from Year 7 and Spanish from Year 8. At the end
of Year 9 they may opt to drop one language when they embark on Key
Stage 4.
Every child matters
We see the learning of a foreign language not just
as a useful skill for a future career or to enhance a leisure
pursuit but also as an insight into how language functions and how
other cultures compare and contrast with our own. For this reason
we believe that every child should be given the opportunity to
develop his/her potential in the widest field possible. If a pupil
does encounter difficulties, thanks to our small class sizes, help
is readily available and solutions can be adapted to individual
needs. In 2007-8 there will be a language surgery in e3 time which
will be used for this purpose and also to offer oral practice for
GCSE candidates.
One candidate in French was especially commended by the examination board for being amongst those who scored the top five marks. An exceptional result when you consider there were 100997 candidates!
Congratulations also to the two Year 9 pupils who entered for
French at Foundation Level and gained a C, the maximum grade at
that level.
Examination Results
In July 2007 Kingswood produced another excellent set of results
which were well above the national averages.
