In the Senior School pupils
study French from Year 7 and Spanish from Year 8. At the end of
Year 9 they are encouraged to continue with at least one language
when they embark on Key Stage 4.
Every child matters
We see the learning of a foreign language not just
as a useful skill for a future career or to enhance a leisure
pursuit but also as an insight into how language functions and how
other cultures compare and contrast with our own. For this reason
we believe that every child should be given the opportunity to
develop his/her potential in the widest field possible. If a pupil
does encounter difficulties, thanks to our small class sizes, help
is readily available and solutions can be adapted to individual
needs.
Examination Results
Although the national average has risen considerably as a result of
languages being so drastically curtailed in the maintained sector
in July 2009 the school produced another set of good results which
were well above the national average.
French 75% A* -C grades; Spanish 70% A*-C grades
