After 27 years in charge of the school Mr Eric Borowski will be standing down as Principal at the end of this term when he takes up a new role on the Board of Directors of the school. In recognition of his service to the school the Directors are awarding a new scholarship for academic excellence - this will be called the Borowski scholarship and will be equivalent to a free place at the school.
Headteachers of Primary schools in West Lancashire were contacted and asked to nominate exceptional and outstanding pupils to be assessed for this scholarship.
After a very demanding set of assessments it was with great pleasure that the Directors were able to offer the Borowski Scholarship for 2010 to Lewis Howard from Thatto Heath Primary School in St Helens.
Mr Borowski, accompanied by pupils from the school, attended an Assembly at Thatto Heath school on Monday 21st June to present Lewis and the school with certificates in recognition of this award.
Mr Borowski spoke very highly of Lewis, aged 10, and assessed his academic standards as those equivalent to a pupil aged 14. He has great potential and is an ideal candidate to take advantage of what the school can offer.
In addition to the school being able to offer Lewis a very high academic standard of education, Lewis will be able to take advantage of the many extending, enriching and exciting activities which take place during it's e3 programme: sailing, canoeing, fencing, hip-hop dancing, street dancing to name but a few.
We all wish Lewis every success and happiness when he attends his Induction Day on Thursday 24th June and his permanent place in September.
