Taffy Thomas - The Storyteller of renown

Taffy Thomas visited Kingswood on Wednesday 14th May and conducted a series of workshops for children of all ages.

Taffy Thomas has a repertoire of more than 300 stories, tales and elaborate lies collected mainly from traditional oral sources. He is now the most experienced English storyteller.

As the National Curriculum recognises, the development of speaking and listening skills is integral to Education Development. The love of language that comes with storytelling is the start of literacy.

Taffy Thomas selected an approriate programme of stories. Follow up work especially re-telling wias encouraged.

Comments from a pupil:

Taffy Thomas was dressed entirely in yellow apart from brown shoes and his magnificent story telling coat. His coat had many pictures on it and each one told a story. He also wore a 'porkie-pie' hat which brought the coat to life. He collected riddles and told Years 7 and 8 pupils a story about a Princess who had to solve a riddle to save her life. Taylor played the Princess and Aaron was a roaring ogre. The riddle they had to solve was 'Find a golden box without a lid, deep inside a star is hid' Can you solve this riddle? We did and saved Taylor's life from Aaron the ugly ogre. We all had an excellent time as he grought the story to life. We are looking forward to another visit from Taffy Thomas. Paige Duffy Year 8

Comment from a parent:

Taffy Thomas was an amazing man. Story telling, singing and even a bear hunt had Acorns, Infants, teachers and parents transfixed for over an hour. Everyone had a great time. We hope he can come again soon. Mrs Bell
